Cockatoo Learn to Crochet Kit

If you've ever wanted to learn to crochet adorable amigurumi plushies, this DIY starter crochet kit has everything you need to make your very own adorable bird - a cockatoo! Learn to crochet with our helpful videos and plenty of photographs and tips within the digital pattern.

This cockatoo is approximately 8cm tall (or about 3.15 inches) when finished, from its bottom to the top of its' head. Your plushie may have slightly different dimensions depending on how tightly you crochet.

Is this kit suitable for beginners?

Yes! Some of our kits have trickier techniques than others, so we give them a yarn ball rating to help decide what level of challenge you'd like.

All 53stitches patterns come with a copy of our techniques guide - a beginner friendly breakdown of the stitches you need to know to crochet your amigurumi. The guide is available in a version for left-handed crocheters as well! There's also material in there on how to read and understand crochet patterns.

This kit uses plush yarn, which can be a little trickier to work with, so this pattern also includes some tips for working with this chunkier yarn.

In addition to this static image resource, we have video tutorials available for all of the stitches used in your amigurumi doll! You can check these out at www.youtube.com/53stitches/ to see how easy they are to follow.

What's included in your kit?

All kits come with the materials needed to make your doll (yarn, stuffing, eyes), packed in a cute cotton drawstring bag, which you can reuse for storage or as a project bag for future crochet projects!

There's also a card with the kit, which will point you to the files and tutorials you need - no need to go digging through emails.It also means this kit is ready to gift to the crafty people in your life!

What materials will I need at home?

You'll need a pair of scissors, and internet access to download the pattern - you can choose to print it, or follow along on your device. You'll also need internet access if you want to watch the YouTube videos.

The pattern is available in English only at this time. It uses US terms, and is worked in continuous rounds. The pattern cannot be copied or resold, nor any of my photographs used. You may sell any items made with it, provided all photography is your own.
