Compare chenille yarn colours

If you're anything like me, yarn shopping and collecting is as integral to the hobby of knitting and crochet as the actual creating itself! I love to use a huge range of colours in my projects, and mostly shop online - which means that I often struggle to tell what colour a yarn will be when it actually turns up. As well as that, sometimes when hunting down the perfect tone it can be really tricky to see what yarns look like next to each other.

My collection of colours is definitely not complete, but over the years I've amassed a few different brands in a bunch of different colours. The first thing I do when a new colour arrives is to crochet myself a small swatch to add to my swatch book!

I use plastic coin sleeves to store my swatches in, with a little sticker or card in the pocket to label which colour and brand it is! I've found myself using this swatch book again and again since I first created it, and ever since Hobbii stopped delivering to Australia it has been an amazing resource to try and find colour substitutes for some of my old favourites I can't get anymore.

With Premier Parfait Chunky releasing a bunch of new colours this year, I whipped out the swatch book to compare some of these colours to each other and was so happy to find some great substitutes for colours like Hobbii's Honey Boney 09 Nougat - the new 1150-81 Almond Butter or 1150-93 Apricot both fit into this little family.

I've started photographing and labelling some of the swatches into their little colour families so you guys can hopefully get a better idea of colours you're hunting down as well - I intend for this project to grow, but in the meantime I hope these images are helpful for you!

Different shades of yellow and orange chenille yarn
Different brands of green chenille yarns

Now, all of these colour swatches come with the usual disclaimers - colours will differ between dye lots, they'll look different depending on the monitor that you're using, and different depending on how my camera photographed them vs real life, etc. But hopefully with them all lined up on the same white background like this it will help you compare them in the same real world conditions!

More colours are to join soon - what are you hoping to see? And shop our Premier Parfait Chunky range today if you see something that catches your eye!
